This place was founded by the Buddhist teacher Padmasambhava in the 9th century on his way to Tibet. It is one of the most important Buddhist meditation places in the Himalayas and of great importance for Tibetan Buddhism.

We are very happy that this project has been finished. After the Buddha statues have been restaurated, the wooden shrine has been carpentered and the traditional Buddhist wall paintings have been made last year, the last finishing touches to the completion of the monastery have been given.

Lo Garphuk Kagyu Njing Samten Choling Monastery School/Upper Mustang

The monastery is located in the upper Mustang near the Chinese/Tib. border at 3800m. Lama Lhakpa, the head of the Buddhist school, currently looks after over 20 young nuns and monks. The children and young people receive a general education as well as the classical Buddhist education.
